We drove out to watch and then on to Costco.
Best action was on the east bank behind Windys. It was a matter of wading out far enough to get into the school. Two young fellas were up to their armpits but were limited out in half a dozen dips. We left about 12 noon.

Went behind Wendys, 2 buckets 20 minutes. Looked over at the east side, saw a lot of empty nets. Tonight the will move close in, should be better for those without waders.

15 to 20 min. limit once we found a spot to dip. Looked like half the city of Portland was down there. Had fun though. Thanks for the Net Safety Chain

 That is behind Wendy's not Windy's....
If I was taking children, dress them warmly ..
cover those heads. The wind was really blowing and chilly. How nice to see that kind of action again.

2 hours to dip twp limits below the I-84 Bridge on the east side. Started way down but it got hot within sight of the bridge. We got a few nice loads with one having 15 or 16 smelt in the net. Lots of ones and twos. Oh well, we got gator bait.

If you go on that side look for a root wad and star in that area down to the little point.

Beware of the homeless in the woods. One of them was really wasted and started shouting epithets and expletives! :depressed:

We had not been through the woods there since we are from Albany, so we accidentally wandered into a camp. I should have been clued in earlier by all the human defecation along the trail.

Krue

PS: BTW, have you tried to prefreeze 50lbs of smelt on cookie sheets? You know like some of the hardcores on here talked about. Anyway, it takes some time, really!
