Necanicum conditions
I was curious if anyone had driven by or fished the Necanicum today, I was planning on doing some fishing tommorrow and was curious of clarity, level, any fish being caught, etc.? Any word would be a great help. Thanks

Re: Necanicum conditions
The Nf nehalem was at 50" this morn so the necanicum has to be in shape.

Re: Necanicum conditions
Thanks RR, I might have to give the N. Fork a shot if the Necan isn't holding fish.

Re: Necanicum conditions
The Necanicum looks perfect!
By tomorrow it will be the perfect height and color.
I fished it for a couple hours today, no luck for me on this river, but did see one Native released and heard of a couple "hook-ups" from drift boats floating. Of course they wouldn't get specific....
Good luck!

Re: Necanicum conditions
Well thanks for your help, I think Necan will be first shot, if nothing there I can catch the evening bite on the N. Fork, probably by myself since everyone seems to go home early from there. Thanks again and get fishy!!!

Re: Necanicum conditions
Necanicum Update!!!! Four fish hooked, lost one, let one dark "squirter" buck go, released a chrome native hen and kept a decent hatchery buck. The one I lost took my eggs (back bounced) about 80 feet down and across, didn't get a solid hook set with the medium action rod but the steelie came out of the water four or five times in the tailout and tossed my hook. I would guess it at around 15 lbs. Very disappointing for me!!! But a great day all in all. Also, a lot of people on the N. Fork, I saw about six fish taken there but no luck for me.

Re: Necanicum conditions
If anyone else floats this soon, I would still love to have my oar (yellow) fiberglass and fishbox (blue plastic) if you see them. (see lost and found post for details). Probably washed to sea already, but thank you in advance for watching for them.

Re: Necanicum conditions
Sorry, I didn't see anything matching those descriptions, but I only fish a 2 mile stretch. I hope you find them!!

Re: Necanicum conditions
I was banking it, but I would really like to throw my pontoon boat on it, just don't anyone to shuttle with, so if you know anyone who would be willing to float with me, give me a holler. I just have an 8 foot water skeeter but I have rowed enough rivers to know my limits. Or if there is anyone out there with a raft or light weight two person pontoon, hit me up.

Re: Necanicum conditions
Check the river carefully as there has been a tree across the river blocking it from being driftable. Check with some one localy or maybe some one here knows if it is clear for drifting.

Re: Necanicum conditions
I have fished it and the lower river is fine but anything higher the the tree is extremely dangerouse I know a lot of you are great on the oars and would probably be fine but if you are not that great dont try it stick to the wilson, trask, clack.

Re: Necanicum conditions
Thanks for the info all, my kickboat weighs about 65 pounds so I should be plenty fine packing it around the log jam up high. I haven't floated it yet this year but that particular spot doesn't look to be blocking the entire river. Anyhow, thanks again for the comments and advice. Tight lines.

Re: Necanicum conditions
CRF, I have an 8ft Creek company that I'm just itching to get out on a river. I have run class 4/5 in a raft before, so i'm not a newbie.

Re: Necanicum conditions
Right where the big jam has been for years. The tree is 1-2 feet out of the water( Depending on height ) and completley crosses the river. you have to portage around it in a DB. no other options. Be careful.

Re: Necanicum conditions
I have a nine foot poontoon boat and a small pickup. I would like to connect with some one to shuttle with on various rivers. I am tied up until the 6th or 7th of January. Send me an e-mail.

Re: Necanicum conditions
Hey, CRFSTEELHEADER, I live in your same town, and have a trailer that will carry two pontoon boats. I have been rowing my drift boat for years, but have only been rowing my pontoon for about two years. I'd like to get onto the Necanicum. Give me a shout.
