Green sturgeon lawsuit
Saw this in the Oregonian today:
Suit notice aims to protect green sturgeon
02/21/03
Conservation groups have notified the federal government of their intent to file a lawsuit to protect the green sturgeon, a relic of the dinosaur age that is native to the West Coast.
The Environmental Protection Information Center, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Oregon Natural Resources Council have sent a 60-day notice of intent to initiate legal action to the Fisheries Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The notice follows the government's decision last month against listing the North American green sturgeon as endangered or threatened under the Endangered Species Act.
The government's finding contradicts scientific assessments, Wendell Wood of the Oregon Natural Resources Council said Thursday.

Huh? What about the Umpqua?
