The act of "intentionally" and I emphasize "intentionally" attempting to hook a fish by mean other than cooercing the fish bite lure or bait.
Just because a fish is not hooked in the mouth doesn't mean that it it didn't attemt to attact the lure or bait w/ it mouth and or it may have attacted the lure w/ it's body.
I read alot of threads on here suggesting that because a fish is hooked outside the mouth that it was flossed.
I assure you that fish are often "foul hooked" even though they ligidimately attacked the lure or bait. They should be released and hooking by means outside the mouth should be avoided if possible.
I never fished w/ bait much for the first five years for salmon and steelhead, and still today do not like the extra drag that bait gives a drift presentation.
I used to peg my corkies drift fishing and even my beads when rainbow fishing. After watching beads pegged vrs free on the leader I am under the influence that if you are searching for a natural "drift", I advise not peggin' corkies, especially small ones and esmpecially when fishing mutiple corkies.
I am so tired of hearing people decaring a fish snagged by means of drift lure w/o bait defined as flossing, not always the case.
Another point I would like to illistrate is that "tight lining" is not nessisarily flossing or snagging. I have had great success in Alaska and Oregon for steelhead, coho, and chinook in a wide variety of situations.
