Default Glo bugs?

I recently caught my first steelhead on a cerise glo bug, and am now a convert. Does anyone have any tips, or ideas that work best with these? Currently I'm running a 2 1/2 - 3 foot leader w/slinky, but since the yarn doesn't float all that good, it gets snagged quite a bit at the hook. Any suggestions on color, technique, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

try a super small corkie, or even some floatant that you can use for flies...

Have fished those bugs for over 20 years and personally like the natural presentation. Yes you snag a few (sometimes a lot) but they're cheap to make and take up no space at all in a vest. I fish-em just like a single egg with a little scent at times. Use a 9 to 10 foot rod and 6 to 8 lb line and leader accordingly. Good on summers too.

Try adding a puff ball. This will float your hook up and give it a natural presentation.

Oregondak, glo bugs have found a place in my tackle as well. I've been using them since last season and have done well, though I found (some people may disagree) by tying my leader at 18" to 20" I dont hang up as much and it has improved my catch rate.

I haven't used glo bugs quite as long as wannabe has as a matter of fact he is the one to get me started on them several years ago. You make your own and they come out very cheap and you can tie up 30-40 an hour. I loose a few from hooking the botton but it doesn't take very long to retie. Use the same colors that you would use with the corkys. Like wannabe, I use any where from three to six pound mono depending on the rod I use. I tie them on a mustad 37160 #8 hook. I also use a scent. Good luck and tight lines..

I run a 18-24" leader, unless side-drifting them. Then I extend it a bit. Puff balls in size 1 work, but not necessary. Dunk them in some scent or leftover egg juice though...it does make a big difference.
