Default First Steelhead Ever! 2nd one too!

Went out with Chris Nordling(fwf1) on a guided fishing trip. (Well, kind of. It was very last minute and he was nice enough to bring me along with his friend, who turned out to be Jason (catch 22)). Caught the first fish with eggs and corkie. Well, actually the fish was very cooperative since I didn't even know I had him on until he splashed me trying to jump in the boat. Then he wouldn't cooperate with the net. When all said and done I had my first steelhead, a nice 8lbs. hen.

Fast forward 30ft. downstream and I hook my next fish. A small hen that was alot of fun.

I also caught two trout and four sticks that day, so I guess you could say I went 8 for 8. (none of the stick were clipped so we released them along with the trout.)

Just wanted to say thanks to both Chris and Jason, I really enjoyed my day on the river with you. For anyone looking for a great day on the river, I would recommend either of these two as your guide.

Trent

PS photos next time as we all forgot our cameras.

hey gasjockey,

i was the guy who called jason while you were out there. glad to hear you had a good time and enjoyed the company. they're both great guys. chris really knows his stuff (although, his juju hasn't gotten me personally into a fish yet unless you count a handoff) and jason has a ton of fishing wisdom (some of which he'll share with you if you're lucky, and i can call myself lucky in that respect. something about a wall of **** i can't wait to put that one to the test.).

the river was really clear today. the morning bite seemed to be the ticket. that's what i get for being lazy and getting a late start on the day. can't they breed a salmon that will bite late morning to midafternoon??

FIL - the guides gave lots of moral support today.

Ampersat - the hints and tips were flowing as soon as I brought out the go juice. (don't ask, you'll just have to come fishing with me.)

Still have a perma-grin!!!

Thanks again guys.

It was a good day of fishing for sure.

Trent of course whacked the two keepers, but Catch22 managed 2 ( albeit *********) as well. Me, well luck wasn't attached to my rods today, but you can't get them everyday. I thought about renaming Trent "Fish Jockey" during the show he was putting on today.

My satisfaction comes from yet another "First Steelhead" for someone on my trips. That always seem to make the day great, even thru the wind and the rain. Unfortunately, that's the second"First Steelie" this month without pics. After the camera went out again, I got the ok to go digi. It's time to go shopping.

It's pretty safe to say that Trent now has the fever, maybe a tad bit more than before.

I think we've all been there , but some of us never get to leave .

CONGRATS Trent !!!!!!!!!

Chris

Catch 22 said he was going to apply for his patent today for his worm rig. Next thing you know we'll all be on the clack. drifting "22 specials" saying "I wish I could have thought of this, then I'd be the one on the beach down in Mexico!"

Thanks again Jason. Way to cool of you to share your "secret weapon."
