Default Dis-engaging level wind when casting ?

Besides the Ambassadeur XLT, Is there another casting reel that has a level wind mechanism that dis-engages ?? That is to say, it is no longer driven by the geartrain / spool......
Once you start winding, the mechanism engages, and you're back to laying line evenly...

Is there a downside to this type of set-up ??

Shimano-BSF Curado...Pflueger-Trion I'm sure there are others...these are both low profile bait casters

Shimano Calais. I have not had an issue with this type of mechanism.

Only this thing I can say bad about this reel is the retrieval speed.

Mark, what's the retrieval speed? My curado BSF works great, I just don't remember the retrieval speed off the top.
