Fish Picture - First Post
Got turned onto this site by a co-workers husband and I'm really enjoying it. Great site!
Fished a little when I was a kid and just started again with my kids. We were doing some tent camping and I thought they would get a kick out of trout fishing. Got a couple of snoopy rods and started get caught by the lures on display at the stores. Man, it sure is fun filling up a tackle box  . Got out camping at the lake and had my dad's rowboat for trolling. Were not out very long and Terri, my 6yo, gets a nice 10" rainbow. It's all over after that, morning, noon and night it's "Dad, is it time to fish again?"

Well later the fishing is getting slow so I put on this crazy looking lure that no fish should ever bite. Rowing along, not paying attention when Terri yells "Dad, you've got a fish". Well it turns out to be one of those legendary brood trout my dad's barber talks about. It's got to be 24" long and Terri is trying to net it with a little dinky float tube net. (She nets mine and I net hers) I give it a few tries also and we can't fit the fish in the net. After a bit the beast busts through the surface, stands on its tail and spits out the lure. Of course everybody within a 100 yards watches this whole thing unfold. After we lose the fish a fella 50 feet away yells "What ya using?" followed by his partner sagely advising "Your nets to small". I tell ya, we were pumped with adrenaline and shaking for the next 1/2 hour. Yep, you can guess what the topic was around the campfire for the next 2 nights.
Well the thrill of having that fish on led me to try salmon fishing and after about 40 hours and my kids asking why I couldn't catch a salmon I finally got a jack Coho that was delicious. Kids love salmon and we're looking forward to next season for some more trout and salmon fishing.
Here's my 4 yo son Troy. He didn't get a fish but was thrilled that dad let him use an actual hook!
Thanks for a great board!
Dale

Welcome to the board. If you are still interested in catching steelhead, the season for winters is just heating up.

Thanks all. I met some pretty nice folks while I was putting in the hours to get that first Coho. Didn't know about ifish then but I'll be sure to look for the stickers next season and say howdy

Re: Fish Picture - First Post
Cosmic - thanks for the enlightenment.
Being Oregon and all, I wasn't sure if this wasn't about 2 adorable kids who like to fish, their mother Terri and her lazy wife Susan.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Well, a 'Lazy Susan' is a rotating plate that pastries and stuff is served on. Put something on it and it comes back around to you.
I've got a good friend that often makes unwise decisions in reaction and attitude. I often warn him to beware the 'Cosmic Lazy Susan' (unseen galactic serving platter) and when something he started is about to come back on him I warn him that the 'Cosmic Lazy Susan' is about to take a turn. Tongue in cheek 'Karma thing'.
When I get a fishing boat I think that's what I'll name it. It'll be a good reminder to me to be positive and keep my attitude in check.

Re: Fish Picture - First Post
Welcome to Ifish. Great pics of some cute kids. The cosmic lazy susan will always turn your way if you continue to spend the time with your kids and make sure they are brought up right. The best thing about fishing is when you catch a young fisherman (or fisherboy or fishergirl).
