I was wondering how I could put a picture by my user name on the board.

Those pictures are called Avatars. I think you need to have 15 or 16 posts before you can add it to your profile.

Go to your profile page (Under Doherty ford click on profile and then update profile)
If you want a custom avatar, it needs a host
(one option is to upload a pic here) and then copy the URL to your Avatar selection. (in your profile)
