costa rica honeymoon need info?
How-D ya'll, me and my soon to be bride are looking for a fishing adventure/ honeymoon, sometime between late august- early Oct. so we were curious about good locations, weather(hurricane season), good fishing, any info would be extremely helpful. Last year Ifish came threw great, I planned my whole cabo trip, (engagement)through some really great people I found here, so it would be wonderful to speak with some of you seasoned costa rica fans, and learn a little.I goofed up a little I have another post on the the general page about this same topic, but the more info the better. THanks DIrty E

Crocodile Bay!!
I have been to four C.R. operations, Croc Bay would be my choice. Nice lodging, great eco tours available, swimming pool, corcodiles in the lagoon, top notch fishing.

What kind of fish are you interested in catching?
I've got a friend who guides for tarpon and permit, fly fishing only.

Re: costa rica honeymoon need info?
mostly looking for offshore, but that sounds like a real hoot, if I only could cast one of those dang buggers, last time I tried fly fishing I was on the kalama for silvers, I got the roll cast down so I was trying to cast(see I dont even what the regular style of casting is called) but anyhow I was feeling a little froggy and was trying to whip cast? whatever and landed that big ol on my eye brow and had to go get a fly removed from the emergency room.

Take me! Take me! I'll check out all the fishing spots for you. You'll be to busy to go fishing anyway!
Try the Salty Dogs page or send an email. Capn Dan and Bait Boy went down there last summer.

Re: costa rica honeymoon need info?
Dirty, the web is loaded with information on charter fishing in Costa Rica, you might start there. Be prepared to shell out $700+/day for off-shore. Food is cheap, fishing isn't. If you decide to wade mangroves on your own, better ask if there are "crocadillos" in the area, no kidding. My best friend in Costa Rica has been the the Footprint and Lonely Planet Guide Books. At $15 or so each, that's a great place to start. The Lonely Planet Phrase Book is a good investimat as well, off the beaten path, Ingles can be hard to come by. My only real advice: do not rent a vehicle from the thief in San Jose that rents out the used Range Rovers. Oh, I prefer the NW coast to all other parts of the country. You also should spend the obligatory day the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, pretty cool stuff. Have fun.

Re: costa rica honeymoon need info?
I know fishing is life.....
but good grief man...this is your honeymoon...will there really be time for fishing? Does the soon to be bride know your planning on sneaking out for an afternoon of fishing?
Maybe I'm a blithering idiot.... and the soon to be bride wants to fish as much as you? I SURE HOPE SO for your sake!
Congratulations on the wedding though!!!

Re: costa rica honeymoon need info?
The one thing I know is that it is really bad form to carry your own bags on a honeymoon. True gentlemen bring a porter and a ghillie. You're in luck, however. I can fill both roles, so you'll be getting both for the price of one! Please reserve the seat in the exit row on the air plane for me and a small cabana with an ice maker.
