Default 2 the sea Margie Boul\'e todays Oregonian

Check out Margie Boul'es column in todays Oregonian. She tells the story about that boat the ifisher found on the Willamette and sent on its way. She puts a name and a story behind the ashes ... good reading from the greatest paper in the west!

Great story. I hope that he makes it. Be interesting to find out where that little boat ends up...

I knew the man whose ashes are sealed in that little model Chriscraft. He was a wonderful person and it is fitting that he be remembered in this way. He left this Earth very suddenly. When I was a teenager, Lance had a hydrofoil ( small - 7 ft' speed boat ) that he kept tied up on the Clackamas near his home in Estacada. My fondest memories are of the two of us screaming, and I mean screaming, along the surface of the water with me leaning over the front of the boat so that it wouldn't flip over. He was a great guy and close personal friend of my family. If anyone sees that boat\casket give it a shove back out into the current. LL

yep , I was the one who found the boat, Bill Monroe actually prompted the column and had the class to wait a couple of weeks so the boat could move on it's way before the paper "outed it". I doubt it is legal but I still think it's a great idea...ironically i had a dragon boat run into my boat several years ago under the hawthorne ridge....i was uh, carp fishing, yeah, that's it.......wonder if Lance was on board?

It sounds like he had a wife that understood him well.
Wouldn't it be great if we could all go out with a story like that.
