Default Tide Predictor

ifishers,

I spent some time trying to locate a NOAA website for 2012 Columbia River tides, to no avail. Does anyone have a link to a good site for the Columbia? Help much appreciated. Thanks.

Not NOAA, but I use www.tides.info, which breaks it out very nicely on a google map with lots of locations to choose from. Ie, you can check tides at I-5 , kelly point ,St Helens, etc for example.

If you have an Android smart phone, there is also TideApp, which is an app that shows tide tables for anywhere in the US. That's what I use.

Try Tides & Currents app (search 'tides & currents' in app store.

Its pretty cool. It uses GPS to find the data points nearest you (also shows how far from data point you are). You can also search.

It doesnt use a traditional table, but a curve showing where you are at in the tide. You can slide left or right on the touch screen to move backwards or forward in time (and along the curve). Also shows sunrise/set and moonrise/set.

Download it, I promise you'll like it (I cant beleive its free!!!)

It has coastal current flow data for specific areas (I don't use this on the Columbia) which would be handy in the Sound or around coastal hot spots.

I'm sure many of you Android phone users may already have downloaded this app but its the best bar-none. The app is Tides and Currents it shows a graphic display of the tide current status of the tide by time at your location along with a moon and sun phase graphic on the lower half of the screen. In addition you can save favorites from a list of every reporting station in the US. Just getting to the CR was a chore and then going through a list of I swear was a hundred stations to find my location took some time. But you can then save it as a favorite. The cool thing is this app is free! Everyone of my fishing buddies have gone to using it - throw out the tide book.

Around Vancouver I usually check the actual flow rate graph which shows the tidal influence. It will show, based on overall flows if the tides have much of an influence too. I add about 30 to 45 minutes a day to predict the next days time of flow.
