Default Oxbow to Dabney

I was planning on floating Farmers to Cloverdale on the Nestucca on Saturday, but it looks like it will be blown out, so my backup plan is Oxbow to Dabney on the Sandy. I've floated it once, but my memory is failing me. Any info about this float to help keep my passenger and I safe would be appreciated.

Has there been any significant changes to the river making it more dangerous?

Are there any trouble spots or islands that I need to around on a certain side (where it isn't obvious)? I think there was a island not far below the power lines that I wasn't sure about last time.

Is know its early, but is anyone catching fish on the Sandy yet?

I haven't had the boat on that stretch yet this fall/winter, but under the current decent flows it should be an easy float if you've got a little experience behind the oars. The only time the Oxbow to Dabney drift gets tricky by any stretch is during the summer or fall or when we have a long stretch of dry winter weather. In that case you sometimes have to walk the boat around downed trees lodged in the primary flow. Just keep a heads up and scout anything that looks suspicious. Have a good float.
