Wilson River 12/11 Triple First
After several outings over the last two weeks I connected. 1) My first winter chrome this season, 7# buck. 2)My first fish on my new 9'6' rod, 8-12lb. Berkley Buzz Ramsey. 3)My first on a bobber/jig. What made it special is that it was on one of my home tied jigs, a 1/8 oz. Owner lead jig. Bought the hot pink powder coating and dressed it PINK! It looks like something out of the movie "Legally Blonde". ( If you saw the movie you know the color). The jig was adorned with a sand shrimp tail and homemade scent made by Marie at Tillamook Bait Co.
It didn't know what to expect when a steelie strikes a jig but it looked like the trapdoor of the gallows opened underneath it. Waiter, I'll have winter chrome with a side of lice please!! Dennis

River Ranger
I really like the Berkeley 9'6" 8-12#. I picked it up a few days before Thanksgiving, on sale, for $59.95. The tip tapers quickly making it easy to flick a light weight jig combo and yet it's got big enough spine to feel comfy taking on a big fish. The river was in great shape yesterday. I'm a bankie and moved up and down the lower river lookin' for fish. By the way, you were the first ifisher that I met while fishing. We were up at Eagle Creek in early Oct. hoping that the small rain had brorught in the silvers not knowing then that it wouldn't happen.

Re: Wilson River 12/11 Triple First
spinner53, This is hilarious. I too do the half day thing, run to the work showers and come into the office! I leave the Willamette Valley at zero dark thirty, arrive at the coast 1.25 hours later, fish until 11:20 AM, drive 1.5 hours to work, take a shower, and walk into the office all fresh and rarin' to go.
This past Monday, I did that. I hooked 4 and landed one, about a 6 pound chrome buck steelie- 25.5 inches long. Caught it with a clown corkie, pink yarn, and Marie's shrimp scent. I had two break 20 pound line. One got into the raging rapids below, and I could not bring it back up. And a big one, about a 15 pound chromer that I had 4 feet from the net, and it decided to do some mid-air break dancing, and break the line it did. My line broke in mid air. I could see my line deep in the mouth of the fish, so I think the teeth got it. You win some and you loose some.
I'm going to do it again next Tuesday. I'm going to fish the Wooshumacallit River.

The Wooshumacallit River. That is my favorite river. Sounds like a great day.
