Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
Great you watch with a forecast like that the commercial guys will get a good chunk of days at the start of the season, catch too many finned fish and they will shut it down for us!

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
And you would be surprized about that Shane? I predicted it last year and everyone said Nawh not going to happen. Guess what? It did. My prediction for the columbia this year. April 17th it will be over on the Columbia. Mark it on your calander.

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
Sure would be nice to have some more opportunity above 205. It spreads the floor and allows those who don't hang on the rope a better chance.
1/3 bigger run than last year sounds great. There really is a lot of good news in NW fisheries these days.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Whatchu talking bout, son? 360,000 is more than 2/3 greater than last year. 72% by my calculation. I know, I'm nit picking here, but that's just because I'm quivering with excitement.

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
Jfool, The forecast for the Willamette was around 90,000 fish from what WDFW said last week. I just hope that my days off from work will be days open for fishing.

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
I think the forcast for the Willamette is way low. I caught more jacks last year than I did in the previous 15 years. Many of them were right around 24 to 25 inches. My guess is the fish counters are including the fish just over 24 inches in the adult category when they really aren't. My estimate for the Willamette is 120k to 140k...maybe even higher. Keep your fingers crossed!!!!

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
I don't know if my weak aging heart can handle this. 360,000 columbia river fish, plus 90,000 willamette river fish. That's 450,000 springers that have to go past my little favorite spot. I need to go lie down for a bit...

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
Big run comeing and we're still going to get it in the shorts above the I-5 bridge. There going to (talking about it) close it at bonniville dam, camas,Washougal, government island area about the second week of April just like they did last year because the netters killed to many up river fish.As far as I'm concerned they shouldn't be allowed to fish for them this year or any year !!!.We're getting ripped off again.Thats just going to put another 5-600 boats in the lower columbia and willamete rivers and then drano and White salmon.

My suggestion is to go to the commission meetings. All I see on your link is last years data.

Re: Springer Anyone? ( 2004 Up River Forecast)
According to WDFW, Orygunners will not be allowed to fish the Wind River this 2004 season. Some kind of power struggle, of river rights, up above McNary Dam...The Skamania County ***** will be out in force to write you all up!
