Towards the end...year 6 - 7....looks like it just gets stuck in that 'Pacific Gyre" location. Also interesting that...the densest portion doesn't actually come near the shore, just the outer edges.

It has already arrived. My brother in law, a regular beach combing collector has been hauling home huge floats and other light stuff clearly Japanese. More to come.

Just a heads up that if you find stuff that seems to be of a personal nature people are encouraged to turn them in so that it can get back to the consulate in Portland. There are plans in development to try and get as much of it back to the people who lost it as possible. Of course most will be general flotsam type crap but unlike most other times you find something neat on the beach there is a very good chance what you find came from someones living room. There will be more to come on where and how people can turn things in as the plan is developed.

Thanks for posting this. I havent done much research, but I couldnt understand how this debris could float past the north pacific gyre and not be trapped. The simulation you posted shows the majority of the debris will not escape, instead it will join its friends in the Magical Pacific Trash Vortex...
