New Guy
Been lurking to long, time to post.I'm a nate to this beautiful state (Oregon)and have been fishing for steelhead and trout since I was a smolt.I am actually lucky to be able to share my story with you all.It was a dark and stormy night... anyway I took my father inlaw for a float down the N.Santiam this last July chasing after summers.Floated all the way down to MillCity without any problems and without any fish.Enjoyed punching thru the standing wave at spencers and thoroughly soaking my father inlaw however.I got stupid at the MillCity falls unfortunately, took the wrong chute and sunk my beatiful Willie.Luckily my father inlaw who does not know how to swim WAS WEARING A LIFEJACKET and I was able to grab him and get him to a rock. Due to a genetic flaw I was NOT WEARING A LIFEJACKET.I am very lucky as I have a wife and son that need me to come home after a hard day of fishing.Sorry to be so long winded, but as the holidays surround us, reflect back on things you could have done better/smarter.WEAR YOUR LIFEJACKET it could make the difference between fishing today and fishing tommorrow.

Re: New Guy
Welcome aboard Wade deep. Hope you enjoy Ifish. The chute at Mill City falls can be a bit decieving when looking at it from water level as opposed to from the bridge. Sorry to hear about your boat, hope you got it back. Glad to hear you are all safe.

Re: New Guy
Welcome aboard, Wade Deep. Glad you guys made it out OK. Try some Sospenders or other inflatable PFDs. Very comfortable. I keep wondering if I'll remember to pull the "tab". Hope you got your boat back.

Re: New Guy
Good story and a reminder that those very stylish funny colored vests are for more than picking up chicks.
OK. They don't really work for picking up chicks do not wear yours to the Mall.
Welcome aboard.
