Did you knick the gallbladder or liver when you were filleting it? I have done this before and end up with a lot of yellow bile staining the insides of the fish.

You may have caught a spawned out hen, or the fish just wasn't that mature yet. Yellow is not an uncommon egg color for rainbows.

got2fish, were the eggs really small compared to the rest of the skein or were the normal sized eggs yellow? I got a hen the other day that had mature eggs and a bunch of tiny yellow spots in and around them. I thought the fish was sick but my neighbor told me they were next years eggs. They would mature after the hen spawned this year and then came back from the salt next year. Is this what you were asking about?

My guess is that this recycled fish had spawned and what you were observing was the remenants of the egg skeins that would have probably been reabsorbed had this fish lived and returned to the salt. Chances are the meat will be fine, may not be preminum but should be just fine.
