Catching Fish "Secret" Formula Disclosed
TimeInWater+#Rods+Location+Bait/Lure+Fish=Fish
Plus a little Crawfish, Anise, Shrimp, Herring, Sardine and Anchovy. Sometimes mixed with some eggcure and WD40.
Sometimes no scent at all and TimeInWater+#Rods+Location+Bait/Lure+Fish=Fish.
Seriously. All the rest is mythology.
Will be fun to see where this one goes

Rick - you forgot that one ingredient....
The "Perfect" hook. Anyone want to comment on what the "best" hook is?

+Right Line + Right Leader + Right amount of drag + Right pumping action + Right rod angle + No boat "Pilgrims" + everything else mentioned = more catch.
Especially no Pilgrims!

******. So that's the ingredient of cabbage silk huh????
I think I figured out the ingredients to carrot milk.
Business Owner + self sufficient and productive employees = less time at the office divided by more time on water than most = fish galore
I usually do pretty good when I go fishing but due to the crisis driven line of work I am in, I cannot complete the above formula. If I could fish 3 days a week I guarantee you I would be one of the top producers on this board. Unfortunately (except for a few exceptions I average 1 day every two weeks.
Anybody that has themselves in a position where they can spend a couple days a week fishing and still maintain a good living and family life I salute (and kind of envy  )

The right hook is one that is sticky sharp.
There was a time in my life I could spend 4 to 5 days a week fishing. Caught lots of fish and learned a thing or two. Can't do that anymore but the experience is still paying off.

I've found that the secret to catching fish is to be sure to have a banana in the boat.
Lots of luck.

Gosh I guess I can get rid of my lucky fly/lure/rod/reel/lifejacket now. If I had only known it was so straight forward. Do you have a similar formula for life? Any help would be appreciated.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">******, mathmatically, that equation is NOT correct, you can not have "Fish" on both side of the equal sign, since the functions based upon the input variables my be negative, (all the addtions the one division). Hence, how can you have "Fish" with negative time in water ( or ) lure, rod etc....
SO ****** I AM CALLING YOU OUT ON THIS FORMULA...

Test for sharp hook, sharp enough to hook your finger nail with very little pressure. On the top part of the finger nail. It will slide off if dull with out hooking.

Re: Catching Fish "Secret" Formula Disclosed
I would say that the "Fish" on the left side of the equation is "fish" in the water your fishing. On the right it's "fish" in the boat.
It should have been intuitively obvious that they were different.

Re: Catching Fish "Secret" Formula Disclosed
The formula posted by the Vanilla one does work as long as everything else has a null, i.e. 0 value.
Then we have Fish = Fish Which is exactly what it takes to have fish!

Don't do theory, just fun conjecture.
I guess you do need to be confident though, or why fish? No guru stuff from me, just a another fishaholic, like you all.
Steelie, was wondering what the heck was in those two tin Bandaid boxes you always have in your tacklebox? You need to label them "sharpness test strips?"
Harmless intentions and fun post. I think the math aside, it is obviously the basic and fundamental formula for catching, and we are all the ones that tweak it with a zillion variables.

Sounds like someone was real tired when reading the latest InFisherman maunual straight from Al himself
Bla Bla+This+That=youknowwhat.....
Bottomline is you can read all the charts you want, get the numbers going past the dam, buy every different color wobbler or K fish on the shelf, put all the veggie juice and lemon scent on them you want, but you gotta put your time in to catch your fish. Once you get it dialed in, it's money in the bank. Wet hooks catch the fish.

Re: Catching Fish "Secret" Formula Disclosed
Hey...I want to play too.
Listen close.........the secret to catching more fish is.....
a) Taking care of your PH (personal hygiene), wash your hands, wear gloves....just keep those stinky odors off the lure/bait/hook.
b) Location location location, you can't hook them if your fishing all the wrong places. Location and timing are so critical.
c) Presentation, knowing how to rig/troll/cast to get your offering in front of the fish.
d) And like others said, I'm a BIG fan of sticky sharp hooks.
ok.....how'd I do? Did I win???

Re: Catching Fish "Secret" Formula Disclosed
Of course there are a million knots and personal choices for knots. A good egg loop knot works for virtually all single hook applications for me, not just for using eggs.
I use a double loop through the eye, improved cinch knot for everything else, i.e., for plugs and wobblers.
Make sure you "wet" (good ole' siliva works good) all parts of any knot before you cinch it down and pull it tight.
A lot of people still use too light of a leader (IMHO) sometimes. Unless it's gin clear, use heavy enough stuff to not lose your fish or your hooks and expensive lures.

The revised equation according to Fishbait:
(TimeInWater+#Rods+Location+Bait/Lure+Fish)* (experience and knowledge/(1/desire))*(preperation+equipement)*(1/presentation)=Fish-(the ones ****** already has caught)
Atleast I like it..................
