Quantum Steelhead rod lost top piece - Help
About 5 years ago, I lost the top half of a Quantum 8'3" steelhead rod. I still have the butt section, and I think it is rated 6-17 medium action. It's green and black. Does anyone have any suggestions where to find a top piece for it? It was very sensative, and I remember how I liked how many steelhead I hooked with it. One day I hooked 7 (lost them all) and one day I hooked and landed 4 catch and releasing 3 of them.
I bought it at G.I.Joes probably 6 or 7 years ago, but they don't make this kind any more, and they weren't much help.
I had hooked up on a snag on the South Santiam River, backed up to break it off, and the top went flying into the river. I coudn't reach it, and it floated away like a tree branch. I've kept the butt section, for who know what reason all this time, and just thought I'd see if the ifish brains have any suggestions, beside just purchasing a new rod.
I've really only concentrated on salmon since then until this winter. I have plenty of salmon rods, but no steelhead rods. I used my springer rod, a Lamiglass, the other day to hook 4 and land 1 winter, but I'd like to somehow find a top half, so I can have a better steelhead rod with more sensativity.
Is there any place that might be able to find a match to the rod?
Any suggestions?
SKP

SKP --- Look at it this way. You've got a great musky ice-fishing rod.

Re: Quantum Steelhead rod lost top piece - Help
I was thinking maybe you could swap out the guides. I work out of my Canby office, so not a problem if you want to drop by sometime. Just let me know so I can bring it. I'm fishing Friday.

Re: Quantum Steelhead rod lost top piece - Help
Jack,
Maybe I should go musky fishing. Wish there were more in this neck of the woods. I have a friend that lives in Jefferson that has a picture of a 30+ pound musky he is holding up when he lived in Minnesota. They look fun.
adiboy,
Do you think the top of the spinning rod will work on the bottom of the casting rod? Sounds interesting, but it might work. I live in Salem and work in Wilsonville. Are you close?

Re: Quantum Steelhead rod lost top piece - Help
adiboy,
Thanks. I came to your office, you weren't there, but tried out the top section and it didn't fit. I do appreciate the help though! May Santa Claus bring you lots of fishing equipment on his annual run.
Does anyone else know where I can get a top half for this rod? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
SKP
