I have a Berkley 15-50 Air-IM7 that I would say is best suited to salmon. It would not be a good drift rod in my opinion. It has a sensitive tip and strong butt and so I bought mine for springer fishing. At the time I was fishing a med hvy Lamiglass but wanted more power to land springers in the off current from a DB.
These are great rods for both springers and Fall chinook bobber fishing in my opinion.
Fisherman's had the rods for $50 the day after Thanksgiving, they are normally $80.
The reel is worth about $65 new if it is on sale.
This is a great salmon setup. I have this same rod & reel for Fall Chinook boat fishing and a Lamiglass Kenia Killer with 6501 for Driftfishing/Bobber fishing.
You should be able to have some good times with that rod this Spring and again next fall.
FMI had 'em for $50? Too bad I missed that deal. I just paid $63.99 for one at GI Joe's, on sale. Got it for springers, too. And yes, it's too heavy for drift fishing, IMHO.
