New to the board
Hello, I have been a reader for a year now and have enjoyed most of the topics. I have finally decided to join some discussions.
It appears that it is proper to contain a fish story with my initial post, so here it goes.
I was fishing on Christmas morning on a little river I know of west of here with a Loomis Gl2 that FISHFINDER put together for me. Started around 7:00am and I promptly got snagged, gave a couple little jerks and heard the sound that no fisherman wants to hear. Yes, I had broken my rod, Merry X-mas to me. It broke just below where it joins together(I didn't put it together all the way in my haste to get to fishing). Went home and pouted for a few days and thought, "Wait a minute I can fix it!". After an evening in the Redneck Rod Rebuilding shop I was once again ready to roll.
New Years's day comes but once a year so why not go fishing and try my newly rebuilt rod. 7:10am I start fishing, and actually hooked a fish, confident my rod could handle the test I worked the mighty fish as though he had no chance for escape. Well you all know I was wrong. A couple minutes into the fight I heard that all too familiar sound "SNAP" my rod was once again broken. I did get the fish to the bank, but since he broke my rod I decided he deserved to swim another day and released him. Just another day on the river. Hello to all and thanks for listening.

Re: New to the board
Let me be the first to say hello and welcome to the next best thing to fishing. but kind of a sad story except for the fish

Hello Stanky. Welcome to Ifish.
I hope you got the rod repaired or replaced.
Cool that you let the fish go.

Re: New to the board
Welcome aboard, Stanky! We need more guys like you. Those of us who build rods have got to have somebody who uses them to pieces or pretty soon everybody would have all the rods they need.
Keep up the good work!

Welcome aboard!
I too have a couple of "parts" rods in the garage that haven't survived my misuse and abuse.
