Default Shimano Corado line capacity

Anyone beside me think that Shimano redisgn their Corado series reel, to get more line capacity??
When fishing big rivers, I spool up with braided line. Even at that, you can only get 150 yards of line. And one good rats-nest, limits your cast length.

I have a curado and I have noticed that the line capacity is also small but that doesn't bother me. Actually on other reels that hold 150+ yard the line ends up getting so much memory and most of it never see the light of day. I take a spool with me and if i need to respool i can do it on the river. Besides, most of the time when most fish are leagally hooked they won't spool you as long as your fishing gear is matched for the conditions.

I dont know if there diffrent on spool size but I use the bsf and if I use sensi thin or xp pro I think i get alot more than 150 yards. Icould be wrong but how much more do you need than 150?

Try making a long distance cast after you cut a bunch of line off, due to a rats-nest. I've found that I can't cast as far.
Keep in mind, I mentioned I was fishing "LARGE RIVERS"

I'd like to see a larger model with all of the same great qualities. I think something a little more suited for big fall chinooks would be awesome.

I bought the Curado knowing it's line cap limits, I have had to take a filler spool with me on a few trips just to be safe.
I have a couple of spots that require a long cast with a light weight and the Ambassadeur wasn't cutting it.
The Curado has paid for itself with fish that I could not have touched otherwise.
On the other hand I have no clue how to maintain the dang thing so Ollies gets some bucks every Spring but it is well worth it.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Curado. It's the best reel bar none!!!!
I just wish they would hold more line, which is why I always carry an extra spool. You just never know when the rats-nest bug will bite you...

I have long wondered why Shimano doesn't sell spare spools for these reels, since they're so easily changeable. Remember the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 521XLT and few other reels that came with free spare spool? They were great, but they, too, had a small line capacity.

Try using Cabela's Tectan line. I bought a spool of 11# test, .0092 dia. 220 yds and it didn't fill the reel. You could go up to 13# test (.01 dia) and get 200 yds or more on your curado. I originally bought it for my low water spinning reels but finally tried it on my curado and love it.

Love my 201 BSF. Just picked up a Quantum 1311MG off ebay which I haven't had a chance to use yet. Waiting for higher water which needs more weight and the 1311 has more line capacity. I wish they would make like a 251 Curado. Something that might hold, say 175 yds of 12 lb test mono. I haven't had any problems with the 201BSF yet except for when I went to set the hook and hit the thumbar release at the same time, Or when I went to cast and my hook caught on some line hanging from a branch right in the middle of my cast, :depressed: Except for that, it's perfect. Haven't been spooled yet

Steelheadslayer--I have two of the 1311MG's and they are my main drift reels. I love them, good drag--they cast a mile as well. Handled a 18lb steelie perfectly last winter. My favorite larger capacity reel is a Quantum 1420L (don't think they make these anymore). It has a back bounce switch that puts it into direct drive, you can let line out without having to hit the free spool button. I have an old Shimano 250XSG that has the same back bounce/direct drive switch. But ther 250 is a bit small for large rivers.
