Default CR Sturgeon 1-10

WOW what a day I am sore from landing so many fish.

Did my first open seat post and hooked up with Russell aka Rainrshine. Had a great time fishing with you! Also had Cracker Joe along for the ride.

Hit the river around Kelly Point just after light and finished about 4 PM. During that whole time all three of us had fish on or had a bite constantly. We easily had over 50 fish to the boat using squid, smelt or squid/smelt combos. Too bad all the action was on shakers. I did land one fish that probably was a keeper but I hooked it in the side. If you want a work out sometime try draging a keeper size sturgeon in sideways in some rippin current. I need Advil!

There was a total lack of fishing pressure. We were anchored by ourselves all day. The water was glass all day but the last hour or so. There are some smelt in the area as we landed a few fish that were barfing up smelt.

Great day and once again nice meeting you Rainrshine. You are welcome on the 5-Cents sled any time!

5-Cents........A great big THANKS for having me along today. What a blast. Not only did we get the upper body work out from reeling in all the shakers but the cardio from having to get up every 4 minuets to get back and man the poles after setting them in the holders. Thanks for letting me break in the new Tiger stick and Penn reel today I think she's ready to go for the big boys now!! Oh yeah and by the way you reeled in that keeper sideways I was starting to think I was going to have to bring over the watter bottle and freshen you up for the rest of the battle. NICE WORK

5-Cents, where were you fishing if it isn't the big zipperlip hole  . How was the current? We plan on being there in the morning.

Thanks,
Dipnet

Dipnet,

We were down stream of the Willamette in about 60 feet of water. We were actually in the middle of the channel but we only had to move twice as there was very little river traffic today and no ships in the anchorage.

Nickel, when it's time for oversize, if you have never done it, please let me be the first to put you on one (ten). So fun taking someone for the "first" and watching their legs and arms go to jelly, then beg for someone to take the rod. More importantly, watch their face when a sea serpent completely clears the water and then tries to drag them into the river.

You know the day is over when the rod starts to go off again and everyone says, "You take it, no, you take it." "No, no, you take it.? "Nooo, you take it."

Catching the bait is a blast in itself.

Nice job sounds like. You poachin' my spot again?
