The Classifieds section of ifish is for one time private sales. Multiple production of one item may not be continuously advertised.
These boards use excludes any legal business, unless those businesses are specifically Ifish vendors. www.ifish.net assumes no responsibility for items bought, sold or traded. Transactions are between private individuals and normal caution should be exercised.

Please notify a moderator when your item has sold!

Default Want to be a mod at ifish?

classadmod.pdf

We have two types of moderators; Classified mods and super mods.

Classified mods, of course, oversee and remove old classified ads and keep the boards humming smoothly.

Super mods oversee the fishing and hunting boards.

The above manual is for classified moderators, mainly.

What are we looking for in new moderators?

The Classified moderator position is fun for folks that like to keep an eye on and get the first goodies on the for sale boards!

If you aren't on ifish several times a week, this position probably won't work for you. We need someone that is ready and willing to really make an effort to make our boards awesome. We don't expect you every day, but we do ask that you let us know when you'll be off the boards for any period of time. We work together as a team on every issue. Someone will know to cover you, this way.

We don't allow just anyone to use the ifish classifieds, and more and more people seem to join just for the classifieds. We don't want that. As always, we are after quality, rather than quantity! Our classifieds are for ifishers!

We want a place where -only- certifiable, interested, contributing ifishers can post. We want to build a place where everyone feels safe within our community, dealing with people that we know that post here, that contribute to our growing data base of fishing and hunting info!

We also have many "alerters" who help out.

If you are not quite ready to moderate, but want to get a feel for it, become an alerter!

We try to always answer alerts. Sometimes we are too busy fixing things, but know that we are VERY thankful for every alert. By alerting, you will hopefully learn what is actionable, and what is not. The mods will respond to you, most of the time letting you know how the problem was handled.

To alert a thread, just find a post that needs our attention, and click on this icon: This will open a text box that you fill out, telling us what problem you see. These alerts, then, go to the moderators, to try to fix the situation.

No one will know that you alerted something, but the mods and you. Know that we encourage people to do this in order to keep ifish a safe and friendly place for all.

Our main goal, of course, is to have our members WANT to follow the rules, and understand the reason behind them.

We try to moderate as little as possible. We know that the less moderating a forum needs, the better off it is, and the healthier our community will be.

Sometimes, we have to step in and ask our members to tone it down, or to not use this word or that... or basically remind them to follow our "AUP".

By the way, please read the AUP before applying to become a moderator. If you read our AUP, and don't agree with how we run ifish, moderating will not be for you.

Our AUP is a set of rules, written largely to address problems we have run into.

In order to be a moderator, you should have a strong interest in fishing and/or hunting! It really does become a time consuming, but enjoyable hobby. We have had several of the moderators find that they have a new family in the little group of mods that keeps the engine of this fabulous community chugging up the mountain!

Believe me, we work as a close knit family back there, and sometimes it gets a little frustrating behind the controls. Sometimes it's like being a detective. Other times, it's just nice to sit back and chat with a smaller group.

Mostly, you have to LOVE ifish and have a great passion for it's health and welfare to drive you to help out in this way.

We try to keep it balanced by picking folks with various political feeling, age, etc., so that we don't end up being so alike that we are seen as one sided or another.

If you are interested (still!), please send me your information through the contact form below, or click here.

I would love to have a stockpile of people interested as I haven't asked in a while. If you are interested in being a super mod, who oversees the whole boards, we'd be interested in hearing from you, also! If you don't fit what we need today, perhaps you will in a couple months!

If you are sitting at home right now, unemployed, or otherwise, bored and you would like to join us, let us know!

If there is one forum specifically that you'd be interested in moderating, let us know! Some forums need more "help" than others. We need experts on every forum!

Ifish no longer accepts financial donations, so this could be your way of giving back to ifish!

I would surely appreciate the help!

Questions? Use the contact form!

Thank you!

Jen

We are also looking for hunting moderators, with a strong knowledge of hunting.
