Daily Fishing Report
The Guide Shop - Tillamook, OR 97141

January 10, 2003...The Wilson River is just full of fish, chrome-bright fall chinook and steelhead. The conditions are prime with a level of 5' and great color. We are expecting rain Saturday and Sunday but it will only push the Wilson about 5 inches. Because we have so many chinook in the river, the game wardens are checking all boat launches and bank fishermen. Just make sure you release the chinook and in the manner that least affects the fish. First of next week, the weather is suppose to be sunshine mixed with clouds. Good luck fishing to all of you, Marilyn

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
It was dead. I heard of maybe 6 fish caught from Siskeyville to Sollie Smith on wednesday. Fishing conditions were perfect.

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
What do you expect them to say; Although the river looks perfect, there's very few fish being caught so don't come over here and bring me your buisiness. jk
I never believe gerneral reports like these, I get my reports from those in the know.

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
come on,you guys know most tackle shops over hype the fishing reports. They don't care if you miss a day of work for a 99.9 % chance at getting skunked as long as they sell bait and tackle and other stuff. The GS has always been one of the worst over hypers though.
What I'd like to know is whether Bill Monroe used the GS guides "reports" to base his claim in his Thursday Oregonian weekly fishing and hunting report column that the Wilson was "good" from Siskeyville down on Wednesday?

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
Not after Dec. 31.
Here is the regs. off the ODFW Page:
Open for fall chinook salmon Aug. 1-Dec. 31; except closed for salmon upstream
from railroad bridge Aug. 1-Sept. 15. 2 adult chinook salmon per day, 4 in any 7
consecutive days, 10 per season in aggregate from all Nehalem, Tillamook and
Nestucca bays and streams.

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
Snowball..,
Check your regs carefully. Chinook Salmon closes in the Wilson, Trask, etc. on Dec 31, 2002. Any Salmon caught after that date must be returned to the river unharmed.
I am also very surprised that the Guide Shop would give such a glowing report knowing that this has been an awful year so far. They know it, we know it, and they will suffer in the long run if they keep putting out these over-hyped reports. All of us are too smart to fall for their
"fish stories". Those of us who fish at least 3 days a week can see right through this "junk".
Sorry Jennie, this one just got to me. I'm normally not so vocal about things relating to fishing, after all it is just for fun.

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
I was on the Wilson on Thursday. It was slow to say the least! A couple of well known guides didn't fare very well either!!!! The fish just are not there yet. I got one but it was tough going.

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
Me and lipripper hit the Wilson on Tuesday and went 2 for 6. Went back again on Wednesday and saw the zoo that was there and decided to go over to the Trask.
Picked up two very nice steelies, they are nates but if your like me I don't eat fish so I really enjoy going to the Trask for the sport.
We had the entire drift all to us as all the pressure was on the Wilson.

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
I've read Marilyn's reports before, and always found them quite helpful.
This one is a little off, but hey... for all you know the river is full of fish. You just can't catch them!

Re: Wilson Report from the Guide Shop
I was hoping that the river came to life after Wednesday, that Thursday and today have been off the hook....
Wishful thinking!
