Default Kalama Report

Had to run down south to try and find some fish since the north end is closed. Fished my favorite rock on the Kalama this morning with mixed results. Hooked four and landed three of them. The three landed were all summer fish!! To top that off, two were native. The other summer run landed had been recycled through the system and I let him go. The fourth fish I had on was a winter fish, but not very big, maybe 4 to 5 pounds. I started licking my lips for dinner when he came unbuttoned. :depressed: The water height is just right, visibility is probably 6 to 7 feet. One native caught on an orange and white jig, the others on eggs with a pink cheater. A little rain would actually help to drop the visibility a little.
This is my post for the challenge as we have inlaws coming up this weekend. :depressed: Good luck to all. Also be prepared for crowds. A lot of traffic for a thursday.

Mean Green Machine, I am headed your way for several days and was hoping to get out on a river north of Seattle. Your post says rivers are closed. Please let me know as I don't have a WA rule book. Is the Sky or what ones. Is the black mouth season still going on in the salt?
Thanks

I don't have the link but the washington fish & game website has updated rule changes.
And yes I think the skynomish is closed. I thinkl they shut down something like 6 rivers.

As GL2 said, the WDFW posted the closures on their website. The Sky is closed up high, but a word of advice, all the rivers up here do not have fish in them. (Unfortunately I'm not pulling your leg) :depressed: It's supposed to rain this week and if we don't get fish, they ain't coming. Let me know if you want to fish the Skagit. The salt opens back up on feb. 1. Should be good fishing in the Juans. It is currently open south of me, and weather permitting, they are doing well. The Apple Cove area has been the best, I believe Kingston area. Good luck.
