Default Shimano Corsair?

Is the Shimano Corsair a good fresh/salt trolling reel?

Thanks,

If you haven't bought it yet, DON'T. If you already have it and it is one of the Gold ones it will work all right, but they do tend to have problems.

I haven't pesonally owned one but my grandpa does and one of my buddies did and they both were not good reels. Both of them had problems with the anti reverse even when they were practically brand new. I wouldn't recommend them.

i BOUGHT ON 2 YEARS AGO AND IT SEEMS TO BE OK. ITS NOT AS SMOOTH AS MY CALCUTTA BUT WAS MUCH MORE REASONABLE IN PRICE. iVE USED IT IN BOTH SALT AND FRESH WATER.....i DONT THINK THE FISH GIVE A HOOT ON WHAT REEL YOUR USING.

Both of them free spooled on me, the silver and the Gold models, getting me into a birds nest and one time having to bring a fish in by hand. Glad I got that fish. Ended up taking it back. No regrets, Just take it back and get an Abu.

Don't buy this reel! Shimano dropped the ball with this one for sure.

I had 2 old ones (silver) and always gave the same advice,"the anti-reverce is goofed up and the drag is not very good"....But then a fried told me to send the to shimano and they well replace them,,,so I did and they did. I now have 2 gold ones and they seem ok....I gave one to a 16 year old kid for xmas and he likes it....SO what I getting at is shimano did stand by there product....DJ
