Default Who makes it???

Ok, after telling people the Green Machine is a Pro Steelheader for a while now, just thought I would ask the experts. Who makes it?? Some say Pro Steelheader is the brand, some say it is a model, some say Duckworth on the swing shift, some say Jetcraft when Mike was starting out?? The V.I.N. plate says Portland Manufacturing. The trailer says Nixon Marine. I would like to know a little more about the manufacturer and see if I could get some specs? Thanks.

nice jetcraft, there was never a boat building company called pro steelheader, nixons bought boats from duckworth and jetcraft and put or had them put the pro steelheader name on them. call dave at nixons and he will tell you the same thing.

My dad has a 19' Pro Steelheader bought from Nixon's Marine in Portland in 1991 and North River in Roseburg built his boat.

As I read this post it seams to me if you have a Pro Steelheader you have a mutt. I know my Dad's Pro steelheader is a real good boat, he hasn't had any problems with it and he lives on the columbia in Hermiston and fishes 2-3 days a week.

Duckworth made the Pro-Steelheader for a while as did other manufacturers. The Duckworth clearly says Duckworth on the side and has the medallion. The lettering could have been removed, but I would assume that the medallion would still be there.

If the title says Portland Manufacturing, it's not a Duckworth by title. However I just called a friend in the used boat business. He thinks they were all made by Duckworth for Pro-Steelheader. Some years were titled as Pro-Steelheaders and the rest were titled as Duckworths. He says they are all of the same quality. He has sold many of these boats and seemed to be in the know.

Mine was a Duckworth, Pro Steelheader. It had a Duckworth emblem on the back. Nixons marine is a dealer that the boat was bought at. Read the title and what does it say......

I just called my dad and he confermed that his 1991 Pro steelheader was built by North River. he is positive of that because the first boat Nixon tried to deliever to him was an 18' model and my dad rejected it, and when his 19' baot was ready he went to the factory in Roseburg to inspect the boat before they shipped it to Portland for Nixon's to hang the motor and such. so my guess if yours is a 91 modle it is also probabaly a North River

You guys are really killing me!! This could be the question of the year. My initial thought was Jetcraft by the seats and swim platform. It didn't look like a North River by the windshield curvature, but maybe it is. Definatley not a Duck? Does not have the medalion. Maybe North Craft or Jet River, how about Green Machine!!

Thanks.

There's a boat dealer in Clackamas that used to be a Duckworth dealer but is now a Jetcraft dealer. Seems that they would know the skinny. They are on Highway 212/224.

catch 22- That is one of the first places I asked, they thought Jetcraft, which would make Boater correct. I think you might be right Boater. The bow and windshield just don't look like a NR. Thanks for the help everyone and yes Crabbait

I do know that the Pro Steelheader has been made at one time by Duckworth, then North River. I am not sure if Jetcraft has ever made it.

Chinookie, you sound very certain, Duckworth? It is a 1991 model, 18' with kodiak pump and 351 motor. If you say Duck, I believe you. The only reason I didn't think Duckworth is that it has a 1/2 swim deck instead of the traditional full step. Although the gunwales do look like the patented Duck. It does float and catches fish for everyone but me!! :depressed: Thanks.

Nice JETCRAFT .

Anyone who has been in the Northwest and has been to most of the boat shows in the last 15 years will tell you that the pro-steelheaders were first built by Duckworth, then by Jetcraft and then by Northriver. This shouldnt even make question of the day. It aint rocket science....................
