Default Gray Backer rod for rags?

What is the verdic on gray backer rod vs. white? Is there been any noticible difference for the guys who fish rags a lot? I know you can find gray at hardware stores and some times you can find white backer rod prepackeged at some sporting goods stores (out of stock mostly). Any thoughts on baitless with just scent or always use with with bait? The two best colors for yarn?

rookie, take a look at the post Corkies, yarn or not? I just posted a pic of the rags and corkie setups that we have used for the past couple of years. We have caught fish with them, with bait and with out. Scent them up good and they are just fine. I don't think that the color of the backer rod matters, but I am sure there are others here that do. I buy the best deal, and the gray at the hardware store by far is the better deal.

rookie...If you feel that you need the white backer rod you can go to the Vision hooks and tackle website. I ordered and received within 7 days.
