Default anybody ever use tennis handle wrap on a rod?

i bought this stuff at an ifish sponsor Gi Joes today that i think will be neat. i bought three spools of moisture absorbing, handle cushioning, grip enforcing tennis handle grip today for under 5 bucks. i put it on my bobber rod around the metal and some cork. i like it cause when my hands get wet i will still have good grip. i am waiting to see if it reduces sensitivity before i put it on my driftin rod. anybody ever try this? and what do you think of it. i know this sell this stuff for rods but i thinks this is cheaper but maybe that stuff is more sensitive.

That's a pretty good idea in theory, however, it will not work when it's raining. If you keep it dry, it will give you a comfortable and soft grip, but once wet, it will tear apart easily. And because those grips are generally designed to absorb shock, it will also absorb the vibrations transmitted from the end of the line.

Funny you mention that fish_on and I were talking about that very thing after hauling in my oversize sturgeon today.

I think something that adds grip is great idea.
Let us know how it works.

It's called rod wrap and BassPro carries it. Looks like good stuff might work well on a sturgeon rod to keep the rod from slipping. Here is a link to it.

No, but I have used it on my net. Works great, just have to put some electrical tape at both ends to kind of hold everything together.

I tried this on my baseball bat in college....it felt good but did not last very long as it curled up and tore easily.

Might last longer on a rod handle however....
