Intro
Well, 4 posts to my name and KingFisher85 noticed I hadn't introduced myself yet. I don't have a great story but here goes. My younger brother got hooked on steelhead fishing and decided to show me the ropes. Mind you, he'd been at it for over a year with few fish to his name; but he kept at it as only an addict could. I came home on leave for Christmas after my first year in the Air Force. He had me buy a one-day license and he borrowed a pole, for me, from the friend that got him into it. He then drug me, at 0-dark-30, to the Salmon river just outside of Otis. Once there, he rigged the pole for me and gave me a few instructions. I remember it was very cold and the ice was building up on the guides, THIS IS FUN?! Well, not long into the morning I hooked and landed a bright 5lb hatchery steelhead. Though not big, my first time, my first steelhead. Needless to say, I became hooked. (Oh, my brother got nothing!) We've both come a long way since that time. I have since moved back to the Northwest and have learned to row a drift boat (Thanks again Bro!!) We fish together often and I'm still learning from him.

Re: Intro
Welcome to Ifish. A story about winter steelhead on the Salmon river gives away your age! I remember (just barely) pitchen spinners for some very productive C&R days on that river. And only a fifteen minute drive from home.
Save what is left of our hatchery programs!!!

Re: Intro
Believe it or not, my wife picked my moniker. I was sitting here at the computer one evening, wanting to register on ifish, but couldn't think of a moniker. I mentioned it to my wife as she was channel surfing (men aren't the only one's) and Brad Paisley's song I'm Gonna Miss Her was on the country music channel. So far it hasn't rang true, she hasn't kicked me out yet.

Re: Intro
I had your moniker pegged the moment I saw it.
For those of you weird enough NOT to like country music, here is just a sample of Brad Paisley's song, "I'm gonna miss her"
Quote:
Well I love her
But I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
Today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things
And she'd be gone by noon
Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
That I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite
|
<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helv">It is a great song.

Re: Intro
I'm still an Airman. Just went over 18 years. Spent a couple years in southern Georgia then transferred into the Oregon Air National Guard in Portland, where I've been ever since.
