New member, story
Hello everyone!
I have been lurking here for quite some time and registered awhile ago and have not posted anything until now. So, here is my story.
When I was 12 I lived in Snohomish and one day on the bus as we were going over the snohomish river bridge on the way to school one of my friends said he heard the "humpies" were in the river. So, I said lets go down and see if we could catch some. So, after school we went down to the river and started throwing spinners and spoons, when a couple of guys showed up using a buzz bomb. They had only one rod and one buzz bomb. They then proceeded to catch and lose six fish in about a half hour. On the last fish the line broke and they left. At the time I did not realize it but they were probably snagging the fish. Meanwhile I did not touch a fish. So, I thought to my self, "I need to get some buzz bombs to catch these fish". So, I scraped up all the money I could (about 4 dollars) and went to the sporting goods store to buy some buzz bombs. Little did I know they cost 4 bucks a piece. So, I decide to buy something cheaper. They had the "Humpy Special" spoons on sale for 69 cents so I bought as many as I could and went back to the same fishing spot as before and in about 3 hours time I had caught 3 hen pink salmon. 2 weeks later I went back and there were about 8 other guys fishing in this one spot so I went to one side and started fishing. I fished for about 2 hours then on a cast the rod just broke in two. So, with lots of time left to fish I rode my bike home and got another rod. I fished the rest of the day and did not even get a bite. So, I decided to go home and started to take my rod apart when the Salmon started jumping like crazy right in front of where I was fishing. So, I decided one more cast couldn't hurt. I cast out in front of the jumping Salmon and pulled my spoon back through them and BAM!! Fish on. A nice 7 Pound Buck. Biggest fish I had ever caught.
Hope you enjoyed my story. I hope to catch fish with some of you guys in the future. I think this board is great.

Welcome to Ifish
You are just getting started if 7lbs is biggest. Take the tips to heart on this board and you will catch more, bigger fish!

Welcome!
Now every time I welcome a new member, I feel like if I don't, I'll get spanked.
It is fun to welcome new members, I just don't always have time, plus, it's so NICE to see all the good ifishers welcome you, and I start to sound like a broken record.
I DO welcome you, though!

Thanks for the story, fish Addict!
Have you since caught any fish on the Buzz-Bomb? It sounds like that story didn't occur too long ago?

Re: New member, story
I never did use a buzz-bomb just spoons to catch the pinks. It was 1992 when I caught those fish. Since then I have tried to catch a steelhead for a long time and never succeeded. I have also tried to catch a chinook with no luck. I did hook one and fight it for about 5 minutes before my line broke. After I lost that fish earlier this year I have relentlessly tried to catch another without any success. Hopefully, this year I can change my luck and catch something large .

Re: New member, story
Welcome- fish Addict-
I left the Lake Stevens area in 1995 to live in Portland.
I went on a few 'open seat' trips with my buddies dad. We fished for cutthroat on the Snohomish. I recall him giving me one of his hand-made lures. I tied it on and gave it a hard flick. [poor knot] That lure must have flown 150 yards I felt pretty bad.
Now you need to get into one of these!!!
