Default proper salmon egg rigging

Ok, I am usally a spinner/corkie guy. What is the proper way to rig these using the egg loop. Not using a big chunk, just steelhead size. Do you pierce the membrane and then put through the loop? Thats the only way i have used , but the eggs dont seem to last long..

Pull out some slack on your egg loop and feed your hook through the center of the cluster and run it up to the wraps on the hook and then make a couple of half hitches with the egg loop slack and pull your leader tight.

How long they last has more to do with above all how you're eggs are cured, also how fast the current is and how far you're casting. Eggs from the store won't last long no matter how you put them on your hook. Changin' bait is part of the game. Good Luck!

if you want them to last longer just dry them up. i prefer my bait to be milky eggs for divers, you just have to bait more often. for casting you should dry out a bit. i sometimes put them on the hook or i just cinch the loop around them without hooking.
