KHH-

I was down below McNary yesterday and fished from the green can (bouy 75) to above the bridge with nary a nibble. I did see one guy hook and land a wild fish and he didn't have is rod in the water for more than a minute. I was happy for him but I couldn't help but shake my head at the luck he had. He fished for another 4 hours without another bite.

The reports I get from above the dam is that it is still pretty slow.

Great comment Tanner...

I'm so sick of this type of irresponsible representation from our public officials as well.

This is exactly why I have never voted for a specific party in my entire life...Maybe thats why my parents can't believe I turned out the way I did.

It's all about "FISCAL CONSERVATISM"

One of these days the people that are supposed to be representing us will put their political science degrees on the book shelf and go back to school and learn the principles of "Business Management."

What's wrong with the philosophy of controlled spending or not spending what you don't have and borrowing against the future .

Another thing, why do retired state employees in this state make more money when they retire when they are working ??? Only goes to show you where the majority of the general fund fund's go to. They don't care about any of this, all they care about is .... well you know...

I will probably get flamed on this one but who cares...I vote and I deserve my opinion...

I agree with you %100. But they don't live in the real world.

All you wanted was a fishing report, now look what you started.

Hey FNF, since many of those steelhead and salmon are Idaho-bound, why don't you suggest to the ODFW that some of us Idaho fishermen come over that way and help them establish the boundary lines ?

No matter what the ODFW says about where the state line is above McNary the Umatilla sherriff's office will likely have their own set of rules anyway. I talked to a guy at the ramp Sunday afternoon that claimed he had talked to a game warden and he was told that with a Washington license you can fish from bank to bank day or night as long as you don't get out of your boat. So until you get Oregon to realize the revenue they are losing and open the columbia for night fishing you are never going to get everybody to agree on one boundary.

Shhhh. Be very, very quiet. The Umatilla ****'s could be listening. I am in hiding up the Snake. No posse there! I received a reply from Steven King of the ODFW, concerning where the State line was, up above McNary Dam. He responded that when he finds out he will contact me. It is amazing that nobody really is clear where a fella can and cannot fish. Funny thing is, Oregon only goes another 10 miles upriver and then the river is all Washington. Why should Oregon even care what happens to the steelhead and salmon above McNary. Hopefully we can get that changed in the future. For ODFW it would help really their budget if they allowed nightfishing in the Columbia River. I would buy a Oregon license to fish at night at the mouth of the Deschutes, above John Day Dam and McNary Dam. Many other people would too! Wake up Oregon and smell the money!

KHH,

I got a report on 12/8 that the John Day is
"red hot" now. A friend of mine said the fish have move in and the bite is on. I should be there but too many other things to do: like elk hunt, white tail deer hunt, fish the Umatilla, you know, important stuff. Oh ya, I forgot to mention sturgeon.

If you go let us know how you did. My buddy wants to go really, really bad. I undrstand the jig/shrimp combo is the trick. I also heard alot of fish being caught in the Columbia from the John Day mouth to the deadline above the dam.

Good Luck.

I was at JD Dam on the 8th and only saw 3 other boats. We boated 2 for 3 rods and fished all day. I didn't see another boat catch a fish?? I'd say its far from hot.
