Default Too windy for sturg tuesday?

Thinking about running up to the fishery Tuesday but the winds are predicted to be 15 mph out of the East. We'll be running a 21' NR, would we be able to fish running the kicker in reverse or is that too windy?

You should be fine, just depends on how accurate the forecasters are. I have fished up there in worse, makes for an interesting day though. Worst case if it's windy, just come back to Portland. It is worth a shot though, my last two trips up there have been awesome, non-stop action all day, with a few keepers thrown in as well. The last couple of trips, it was VERY windy in Troutdale, but nothing at the Fishery, I almost turned around, but decided to run up and have a look, glad I did.

Good luck!

Well if nothing else it will be an interesting boat ride. I think we'll be ok, jsut might have to give the kicker a good workout (and hopefully the arms). Thanks for the info and if anyone sees us out there say Hi, we'll be in a black NR.

You should get a good workout. Be sure and take lots of bait, my last trip we went through six dozen smelt! Some even caught multiple fish.

Good luck!

Like Chris said, East will keep you straight on the anchor and even flatten the river, versus a direct West, which will keep blowing you above your anchor (which ain't good) and with current, creates nice rollers and breakers over the transom. Take two sea socks up there, always.

If you have east winds you got it made. It's the west winds at 15 plus that make it tough to fish.
