Default Can someone help?... Homesick...

Hello all... Its been a while since I posted here. It hurts me to even try because I can no longer fish for salmon or steelhead since i am living in a desert... However, i was hoping that maybe some of you out there can help me out. I want to move back to the Portland area and i thought that maybe some of you could give me a few leads or ideas as to where I may find work. I am a mechanical designer working with Pro-E and Autocad and I also have some CNC experience. I miss the northwest and I can't take it much more down here in Arizona... I am a fishaholic. Not a cactusholic... So, if anyone has any info or anything that can give me some hope, please let me know... It would be greatly appreciated. romeo.rachi@honeywell.com

Also just got my picks back from my friend that we took while in Alaska this past summer. It was the second week in august and I was able to catch four different species of salmon. I have some great picks of silver and sockeye I got at the confluence of the Russian and Kenai rivers. Absolutely beautiful place and if I ever get them scanned in, I will post some of them...

Well, Tight lines and please help out a fellow fishaholic...

Fish on....

Oh my God, I could not handle the desert either. :depressed: I have lived my whole life in the great State of Oregon!! I can't imagine living any where else, except maybe our neighbor state up North. I really feel for you. I only wish I could help you with your job search, Good Luck!

Can you be a little more specific about what it is you do? Not exactly sure what it is. There's a company in Klamath Falls called Jeld-Wen that does what I think you do and Alumaweld is always hiring in Medford (depending on what you do). Another option is ADEC (Austin Dental Equipment Company) in Newberg, OR (30 minutes outside Portland.)
I'll try to look back on this post later or drop me an e-mail.
I know what its like. I spent 4 1/2 years in San Diego, before I got back to the Northwest.

Jeld-Win SUCKS! They're one of the worse employers in the country. I know some of their upper management and they consider their workers and low level foremen as "serfs".

Hey fishaholicAZ, you might check out this company, IDC:

IDC website

They are a large consulting firm (actually part of CH2MHill) which encompasses the whole range of engineering design & construction management disciplines. Of course their fortunes rise & fall with the regional economy. But if you get your foot in there, then you are exposed to a whole bunch of potential new employers.

Good luck; bring us a few lizards for lingcod bait.
