Re: Pontoon boat materials???
You know it really depends on how you want to use these boats. Personally, these boats are good transport boats, but not good "fishing" boats. Most can handle some serious water IF you are well experienced on the sticks running whitewater. But if you aren't, can be deadly. For low end boats, they are ok, but certainly not great. The materials in question aren't made for serious use. They will eventually break down on you, especially if you put it into hairy situations.
Ok, on anchor. Depends on where you anchor and what you want to do when you are at anchor. These boats suck for fishing out of (unless it's trout). When I'm IN the boat I want to stand up and fish on them. The Steelheader and custom boats handle well for this. But with the ODC's, Bucks, etc you have to sit and fish. They are great for transporting to hole to hole though. I normally used a 15# pyramid on my 9' Outcast. Held well, the 10# seemed a bit light at times. The problem with these full rocker hulled boats basically will ride a wheelie on anchor with swift water. They aren't most stable boats. I can go on with more, if you need any finite answers, shoot me an email.
