Please don't give them the time of day for your clicks. They count that as support.

Simply "Don't Go There!"

I don't even care what it is. I don't want to support their work.

Good old Nemo. Interesting that when Bruce smelled the blood in the water that he couldn't resist his natural impulse to eat fish. I guess they just choose to ignore this part of the film.
I also have a natural impulse to catch fish and eat fish.
The study that recently was released by the Royal Society claims to prove that fish feel pain but I choose to agree with the previous study that fish are simply responding to negative stimulus but lack the brains to experience the psychological experience that we call pain.

Then again we do partipate in the only sport that attempts to snag its quarry with sharpened metal hooks.
This is why fishing entirely for catch and release sport drives me crazy. Have you ever seen bird watchers out baiting and hooking birds to get a close look at them and release them? They would likely get beaten soundly with tripods and binoculars from their fellow bird watchers. Yet snooty anglers go out on the stream to impail fish after fish on a hook admire them and then release them all the while thinking that I am a barbarian for hooking and keeping one hatchery fish and going home.
Catch and release is great for conservation but not for sport.

Wow, SandySteel, I understand what you're saying, but our view points are just about totally opposite.

I catch and release a couple hundred fish a year, not counting shad. It's possible you've had the luck to catch one of those and take it home to dinner.

I catch fish and occasionally kill one to eat. And I try really hard to not be a snooty angler. Please don't beat me with your landing net the next time you see me release one, okay?

I just posted the URL to kinda stir things up I haven't drug a herring in a while and needed to do some trolling. But the part about it that got me is PETA is using Disney in their anti fishing message and trying to target children with it.Yet Disney licenses Mickey Mouse,Pluto and such to Zebco and denies any afilliation with PETA yet there must be some kind of link here.

I try to not read too much into these messages that Hollywood likes to plant on the kiddies heads...but ever since Bambie, every cartoon seems to plant the "Evil Hunter" image, up to and including Brother Bear. Now that my kids are a little older, I at least try to make them aware of the planted message.

At least it wasn't as bad as taking my kids to the "Kids Movie" with the ants where Woodie Allen was the voice of the main character...just before he married his daughter

I've banned the Bambi movie from the house. Who the heck would name a male deer Bambi, anyway?

Skein
I have been thinking about this lately. I decided to play a bit of devil's advocate here. But really if we ever did to other wildlife what we do to fish just to observe them rather than keep them for consumption we would get slapped with wildlife harrassment... here chipmunk... here chipmunk.
I have gone out on catch and release trips before and I have enjoyed it. But I think I will leave the rods home if I don't intend to keep fish on my outings in the future.

Disney would have to have approved the use of their material in the format, therefore, they support the format. You can always boycott the products that sponsor an ideal that you do not like. You can still make a choice as to where you spend your hard earned dollar.

Disney has invited your comment on PETA using Nemo for their campaign. You can e-mail them at:

productenforcement@disney.com

or call toll free 818-560-3300

Armed with Nemo, this PETA campaign is encouraging children to eat tofu fish substitutes, avoid "cruelty" to fish, and to "seek healthful alternatives to bacteria- and toxic-laden sea animals."

Sandy Steel,

You seem to miss the point behind CnR. There is nothing wrong with taking a fish for your table. But there is something wrong with taking more fish than you need. The reason I promote CnR is to try and make people realize that the harvest is not the true reason to be out there.

CnR works!!! If you choose keep some fish, most (if not all of us who do CnR) understand. I was lucky enough to grow up in a fishing family, there was alway's plenty of fish for our table (as there is now). But over time I have come to understand, take only what you need..... Absolutely no more than you need!!!! I love to fish, it is my hobbie and my passion. So once I have harvested what I feel that my family needs, I CnR.

I see nothing wrong with that. Besides, comparing birds to fish, is comparing apples to oranges.

Have PETA ask my kids what do they want for dinner...

1. Bambi (deer, elk, etc)
2. Nemo (salmon, steelhead, trout, bass, sturgeon)
3. Daffy duck, ***** Bunny....etc...

Teach kids good conservation ethics and good culinary skills and they will enjoy spending quality time at the dinner table with their "friends".

PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals !

Do not underestimate PETA, and the tactics they and their fringe members will use.

Do not underestimate the power and influence of movies such as Bambi (and the related decline of hunting, and the increasing public adversion to all types of hunting). FYI - I am not hunter, but some of my best friends are

I appreciate SandySteel's point of view re CnR, but I hardly consider myself "snooty". Here are some other things that fisherman, among others, do that some find offensive... wading in steams (disturbing fish eggs, and the fishes food chain); boats harassing fish enroute and on their spawning beds; boat motors and their fuel/oil in the water; hooks, line, corkies & lures lining the bottom of streams, not to mention the toxic lead that many of us use for weights. You get the point. Heck, why fish at all - purchase fish at the market near you, and save a lot of time & money!
