Sneakie Fish

OK I haven't seen much posted about Meldrum Bar lately so I thought I would share. Got there at sunrise Sat, heard the fishin hadn't been to good yet this year but I figured I would stay the day. Still not a fish anywhere's till about 1:00 when a guy about 4 poles up river brought in a nice dancin steelie. No more action till about 3:00 when I was kicked back trying to catch a Raider game score on the radio.......and letting my eyes rest a bit....I peeked over at my pole in a daze to find it waggin up and down like mad! Those fish know when you close your eyes! I did get there in time to reel up a nice native steelie about 12 lbs . When I got it close enough to let some body hold my pole I reached down it the water and it just relaxed when I touched it to free up the hook then swam off . Made my day! I will be back .....with tooth picks to hold open my eyelids!

How much wieght is holding out there?

I've seen fisher's cast way out and close in, I usually cast about 40 to 60 feet out how about you.

I was using 8 oz to stay put . 6 oz might keep you down if you were in close but I don't like getting wound up in everyone"s gear if it breaks loose. I was in fairly close when hooked that fish, not more than 30 ft maybe .
