Hello all. I am new to the site.
I fish primarily the north fork lewis river. It's been 20 years since last picking up my pole. Trying to relearn the fishing thing. Any advise?
Dan

Hey Dan, welcome. My dad started fishing for steelhead last year after a long absenc. He did fairly well. Don't get discouraged. Keep it up.

Re: Hello all. I am new to the site.
Welcome aboard. Since you asked, I'll tell you. I take some flak from time to time about telling folks to search the archives. But there's a wealth of info in there. Keep an eye here for current reports but take that little bit of info and go search through the past years archives with it. There was a time on ifish when folks would tell all, which corkie, hook, yarn, leader length, scent, how much lead, which rock they were standing on and how they were holding their mouth. It's all still there, safely archived and waiting for inquisitive minds. Search on techniques, locations and run timing. But, don't be afraid to ask if you don't find it there. After four some-odd years, there's still new info to be asked about around here.
Above all, have fun out there.

Re: Hello all. I am new to the site.
Dan,
My advise is to talk to people on here or at your favorite fishing spot. If you have caught fish on the Lewis before try it again. You are bound to get into a fish. Try and get friendly with people on the river and ask what they are using. If they won't tell you or get protective of their setup, go behind a tree and use your binoculars to catch a peek. Just kidding  I have found most people to be rather helpful on the river if you are respectful of their personal space while fishing. Fish On!

Re: Hello all. I am new to the site.
Hi Dan, I'm a newbie like you to Ifish.I have been fishing the North fork for many years. My advice to you is to try and remember how to read the water and where the holes are. They haven't changed much on this river over the years. The bad news is the flow is high now and you won't be able to see the riverbed as you can in low water. The biggest new thing for steelhead seems to be bobber fishing. It really isn't that new though as I remember a fellow out of Oregon who made the Bradbury Jig at least twenty years ago for just that purpose.Good luck and see you on the river.
