Default Knot for braided to mono?

Curious what people's favorite knot is for joining braided to mono. I've been using a short section of mono backing first on the spool to prevent the braided from slipping. Seems to work well. I've been using a surgeon's knot, but I'm not sure how well it will hold if a big fish takes me that far into my spool.

Thoughts?

Im not sure of the name of the not but i call it a double bopper stop.. tie one with the mono with the braided running through and then tie the braided bobber stop with the mono running through.. after both nots are sinched slide them together and clip the ends, it kinda looks like a surgeon's knot when finished.. a ty-fast tool works well like for a nail knot at the leader to fly line connection.

I like the uni to uni knot, sounds kinda like the bobber stop knot mentioned earlier. Here is a website showing it fishin knots

W.C., Good question. Oops, I misread the title and do knot  know how to tie two lines togather that will hold. However, for tieing the braided line to a hook or swivel or lure, I have found that I can increase the strength and reduce slippage by utiliziing a improved double clinch knot. I did have problems with knot slipping to start with and did not smart enough :depressed: to ask for help. I monkeyed around with the clinch knot, the only one I know. This works well for those that are knot impaired such as I.

I run the line through the eye twice and then tie the improved double clinch and just before fininhing it, I run the tail or tag end throught the loop part twice and then tighten it. Through the eye twice and then through the loop twice. I have to confess, it works, landed a 35 lb bright winter chinook yesterday on the Wilson with my bobber rod and power pro and 15 lb leader. No slipping thank goodness.
It's simple if you know the clinch knot. Give it a try and good luck.

Just like Kenai and Keta, I use a uni-to-uni. This is a very common method amongst the Baja long-range crowd, and a lot easier than the exotic bimini twist + albright.
