Re: boats vrs bank
I'm with tipndwater,
Sled from ocean to ankle deep.
Drift boat if I must.
Bank only if I have too. Nothing against it. I just can't carry my cooler of B**r and stuff.
It's also easier to take the kids in the boat. I carried my 13 yr old across the Wind River on my back a couple times and I think I hurt myself :depressed:

Re: boats vrs bank
perhaps you should make a different poll question set. a lot of folks on the board have boats, but they don't always fish from them.
i just bought a drift boat and have yet to assemble my crack team of front seaters. i've got one guy, but i work with him and we both do the on-call rotation at work so that takes out two weekends every ten weeks or so. the other seat rotates around. most of the time, i say the heck with it and just run out to the bank somewhere.

I's a po bank anglah.
It's been my experience in fishing that, generally speaking, either you fish from the bank or the bank owns what you fish from.

Re: boats vrs bank
Winter steelies and some summers from the bank. Occasionally a few silvers from the bank too. Mostly I'm in the boat for Springers, sturgeon, and summer steelhead plus chasing URB's.

Re: boats vrs bank
I think equal amounts. I fish out back a lot, and when it's no good, I hop in the boat and go hunt for them.

Re: boats vrs bank
I'd guess that it's 50/50 for me, altho the poll wasn't set up to catch that.
Generally I'd prefer to fish from the boat but there are some times when I can't find anyone to go out with and end up banking instead. Also times when weather and/or the bite is more condusive to bank fishing instead of from the boat.

Re: boats vrs bank
Yes I boatfish , bankfish (plunk&drift), boatcrab, and I always find time for dockfishing, dockcrabbing. Depending who else is is me and location. I also fish from a floattube, cannoe, and rowboat where motors are not allowed. Oh boy! I am going fishing right now so I dont have to stress over the math on this one. Being on the bank or boat will give me time to check the fishing log, dayrunner, and palm pilot then put stats the fishing percentage calculation program I haven't installed because all my time spent fishing or lurking ifsh. Fish em' early from the boat.
Fish em' later from the bank.
It's a mood thang sometimes though. Like when you just gotta do some hiking in.

Re: boats vrs bank
You folks are to much I fish 90% bank. The boy just got a DB so hope to spend some time in it. I get wed/thur off and he is a week end warrior. No complaint as he does take a few week days off. He's so nice. (see big & bright I do say nice things about you)

Re: boats vrs bank
I fish from the bank for a variety of reasons.
I don't have a boat.
I like scrambling along the bank.
I have nothing better to do.
