Re: WTB top half of an IM7
Ok, just waiting to see if JD is interested. Not doing me any good just laying around. My rod was from back in the early 90's, not sure if that will make a lot of difference or not..
The rod has quite the history. I was fishing the lower Trask with a buddy just above the 101 take out from my boat around 1994 or 95. We decided to try and move up a hole from where we had anchored for fall chinook. As I was pulling the boat up the shoreline I noticed a rod and reel set up laying in about 5' of swift current. We grabbed a rod rigged with a Kwik and used this to "snag" the outfit from the bottom. We then saw another drift boat slipping into the hole we were headed for so we dropped back to our original spot and reanchored up running Kwiks. I then cleaned up the rod, took the Ambass reel apart and washed sand and crud out of it while we sat on the hook. I put the reel back together and everything seemed to be functioning good, braided line on it seemed strong. I strung the outfit back up rigging it for back bouncing eggs. I took one of our Kwiks out of the water and started back bouncing roe with the "new" outfit. You guessed it, FISH ON, nothing huge, just basically an overgrown Tillmook Bay Jack, was right at 15 lbs so way below the average fall fish. But it was our only fish of the day. The rod and reel outfit went on to be my favorite Tillamook Bay sturgeon outfit as well as chinook. Anyway thats my long winded history of this rod. Would be cool to see the tip section get back in service.
