Default Sandy River - Quick Report

The lower Sandy in the Troutdale area is fishable! Good color. River is up - holding. No touches for me in a couple of hours plunking.

Thanks for the info Navigator! I've been itching to fish my favorite river but when I went last weekend, it was muddy as all get out. Good to see that the mud has cleared. It's been running high for the last week so hopefully it's all flushed out now.

There was an article in STS a while back regarding the distribution of steelhead in a given river. They will range quite a distance above their place of spawning until it's time to spawn. I think you'll find less pressure above the creek but your chances should be just as good.

Jim, I fished/Plunked Oxbow for a couple hours on Thursday with Ron and the water looked great. There were a couple guys down there doing an andvertizing shoot for Gerber knives, They were doing it for a second time because the first time they did the fillet cut it was from the tail first and they wanted it from head to tail.

Louis -- That's because you brought the fish in tail first  . Good to see that they got themselves turned around.

I will probably start showing up in Oxbow around the 1st of the year - like to beat Troutdale to death during the Holidays. Here's to a December steelhead for all!

I buried this on another thread, but got no replies. For many years, my favorite Sandy water has been from Revenue Bridge to Marmot. With this year being all broodstock, I suspect there will be only a few strays and wild fish above Cedar Creek. Does anyone think I am correct on this?

I fish only from the bank, and I know Oxbow and Dodge very well, but there is the possibility of a little more elbow room up high. That will especially be the case if there aren't any fish.
