This is funny! I asked the same thing last night in my "getting sick" post. I know how to get there now just no mile markers.

Guys. Highway 6 parallels the Wilson River for about 30 miles or so. There are many, many pullouts along the road. As you drive the highway, it will become quite obvious where people are fishing. This river gets fished heavily. I haven't fished it in quite a while (month or so). If it were me, I would head on down the highway to the guide shop (about mile marker 6 or so) and ask there for reports. From there I would fish any good looking water from there upriver.

Probably not much help. Good Luck.

Steve

There is good fishing around mile post 6, nice long drift. I was fishing below the guide shop today and I hooked a chinook but I lost it and then I hooked a sea gull I cut my line so I wouldnt get bit. I seen 1 caught on a pink corky and yesterday I caught 2 in 1 1/2 hours. On hwy 6 if there is a pull out, there is a hole nearby. Good luck to ya all

Start at the Guide Shop and work your way upstream from there. The area there at the Guide Shop will probably be pretty busy, but if you have done this for a while it should be nothing new. Drive the river and stop any where it looks good.

Good luck

Now that we know where to bank fish on the Wilson, what about the best part of the river to run a DB? What level is best? Is there any "trouble spots"? Can an newbie handle the drift? Any info would be an early Christmas to me,and probably, many others. Thanks and tight lines.

Santiam,

MIlls down to Sollie is a good, easy drift, above there takes a little more skill.

The level now is pretty good, right in the middle of the gauge. Two feet lower is pretty low and two feet higher is pretty high.

Default Where to fish on the Wilson?

Want to fish the Wilson river tomorrow, however, I've never fished it. Will be fishing off the bank, anywhere to fish there would be appreciated, mile post markers, or other land marks. How was the fishing today on the Wilson?

Probably more bank access on the wilson than any other river in Oregon!!

Well, lots of access at least.

Is it possible to get bank access down by the bait shop(just off of the same road just below Sollies)?

Besides at the Guide Shop and Jossie Hole you're not going to find any public bank access on the Wilson.

Hey Rock, If you want a REALLY good driftboat fishing experience book a trip with Dave Johnson, you won't be disappointed (= lots of hookups) and you'll learn lots
