Default Kelly Point 12/21

Fished around the Kelly point area today. Fished across from the T6 and below the willamette by marker 40. Ended up with about 20 shakers for the day. Bite was off and on and it looked to me most had folks headed home by noon. ODFW fishcheckers said they had only counted 5 keepers as of 1:00. Pretty slow. On the up side ther was no wind to speak of. If your headed out before daylight on the Willamette be careful. Lots of prop eating and boat denting stuff in the water.

Fished with Slutgoddess out in his nice covered jet boat  . Fished out and around the woodland area on the CR. One minute theirs a bite, the next nothing for a few minute. Just a hand full of shakers for the day.

T-6 again. Helped Jen's daughter get onto her first keeper sturgeon. 46" caught early before 0800. Tide was barely there and almost no flow in the river. Tough fishing.

We tried the punchbowl too. That place is dead lately. What happened to it?

Ifish was there in force. Many boats stopped by to say hey. We fished next to Jsail and a self described mystery lurker for most of the day. It's an old story 'should have been here yesterday'.

Anyway gotta go and carve a fish.

Happy holidays.

Fished the lower Willamette this morning, 20+ shakers and a 51" on smelt. Saw one other boat with two keepers, said they got them at Kelly Point.

Nice day to be on the river!!

Looks like we were right on par with everyone else.

20+ shakers, no keepers, on a near glass day for Lake Columbia.

Thanks Rick, I enjoyed myself.

I was out there with Cracker Joe fishing below the Willamette next to FWF1 and ******. Nice to meet you guys  We only caught 5 more fish after you guys left but it was such a nice day on the water we wanted to stay.

Sounds like we did just about the same as everyone else with just shakers to the boat. Cracker Joe was nervous fishing next to you guys because he misses so many fish  but he watched Chris real carefully and he started hooking way more fish! It was pretty funny... Joe would miss, Chris would hook. Joe would miss, Chris would hook. I was busting up!

This was the first time I used braided line on my sturgeon reels... wow what a difference. I think I am going to like it.

Pilar was that you at the mouth of the Willamette at about dark flying a blue flag?

We stayed in the Willamette and had 15 or so shakers with a couple on the button at 42, but just too close for comfort and were reprieved. It was a nice day although as WaterDog said, the debris in the river is a major pain. Watch the root balls, logs and x-mas ships (almost got run over by one of those who didn't see us  ).

5-Cents,

Yeah that was us... desperately trying to match my daughter's keeper from earlier in the day.

Bite was good very early. The afternoon/evening was rather pitiful. We had a great day anyway - Thanks John!

Note: The red eyes are not a result of camera flash... they are the result of my daughter's recent affliction with Angling Fever - not dissimilar to demonic possession.

Mel,

She has the Tuna bug. She is so determined to fish the bullets that she'll probably be able to overcome her seasickness.

We're all in trouble then. You might have to adopt her at that point!

Ha - I'll adopt her as long as I can send her back home after the TUNA trips. I can't afford College tuition, got that nasty boat habit to maintain!

PS - She doesn't really have the bug. Maybe a few symptoms, but until you see the train wreck (God I love that descrip!) and crank one in you really don't have the sickness - right?

Oh, don't worry about the college tuition, she's been saving since 1st grade... then again, Capt. Toni might be getting her life savings sometime soon! (she's aflicted with horse-fever, too)

I'm not sure you have to actually experience the trainwreck to be afflicted with Tuna Fever - the girl seems to have it pretty bad. She reads the SaltWater fishing accessories catalog with the glassy eyes of an experienced addict. Perhaps she was aflicted in a former life and reliving those memories vicariously through the rest of us salty dogs.

Oh Jen- I'm sorry for ya. I think it's just an early warning indicator of how bad she'll have it later, probably be terminal (as in tackle hehe). Better get yourself some help now (she'll be fine- it's YOU who is going to need the help)!

Puddles, wasnt me. We were fished near marker 40 from 11:00 to 2:00.

Did fish next to a couple of guys in a blue DW Magnum who were friendly. Seems as though there have been some real freindly folks on the river latley.

To the kid in the jetcraft Kokanee. You on here yet? Dont be a lurker. Fun chatting with ya the last couple of trips.
