Default WTB Crab Cooking Set Up

Does anyone have a crab cooking set up for sale? What specifics am I looking for when I buy one? Is a stainless pot really necessary? What about the regulator? How high of a flow is minimum? No more cooking them inside!

stainless pots are nice, but not needed. watch the stores for turkey cookers, they'll be on sale soon.

The cookers offered at places like Fishermans Marine have the correct size LP regulator.

IF you steam your crabs, you're boiling just a couple inches of water so you use less propane.

A stainless pot isn't necessary, but it sure is easier to clean. We have aluminum and ss, and if we're using just one pot, it's always the stainless one.

As Criss says stainless is nice but getting the largest pot you can find and afford is more important! It takes a little longer to heat up but can cook as many crabs as you want. Towards the hollidays Winco has some of the large alum pots, and check out the garage sales for the burners. Another pot that works if you can find a pony keg, cut the top out and place a cover over the opening works great, takes a bit to get to boiling but stays hot and can cook a lot of crabs at one time!

Another suggestion is to get a metal 55 gal drum and cut the top and bottom off. Put your burner and pot inside; the drum will help to channel the heat along the pot instead of loosing it to the atmosphere.

Your pot and burner go inside the 55 gallon drum to keep wind from blowing away the heat.

That's a great idea but doesn't the drum block off the oxygen needed for the burner?Do you place the drum on something off the ground a bit or something?
