Default What steelhead?

Went to the Elochoman yesterday morning. Great water, a shade higher than I like to fish it but it had that perfect steelhead green color. I took fellow ifisher Fastwater, (aka. Mark) for his first look at it. Started with a bump for me about 3rd cast, just a tug, then nothing. Mark hits one in the first ten minutes, we land it and check for the adi. It had one but it didn't look right, not totally gone but not fully there. While I was tailing it, Mark asked for a better look. I changed my grip and OOPS, bye bye steelie. We had one more hit there and then I hammered a beautiful black and red silver about 3 hrs later in a different hole. We didn't hear of anymore steelies caught except for one. Had a great time showing Mark the Elochoman and next time he says he will introduce me to N. Fork Lewis. Mark, had a great time and really enjoyed fishing and talking to you.

Had a great time for sure. Thanks for the tour. It is always a pleasure meeting and fishing with another Ifisher.

The Winter steelie in question had a deformed adipose fin. My guess is that it was not a hatchery fish because there was no obvious scar fore or aft of the long but narrow fin.

The water was perfect. The color was perfect. Were there fish there? Yes. Were there a lot? Probably not. Were they bitting? Not really.

I will be fishing that river again for sure. Especially that first hole we tried.

tip, I received an email from someone. Next time ID yourself by your ifish name so I can relate to who I'm talking too. Thanks. That zipperlip hole isn't so zippered anymore, seems to always be crowded with someone.
