Default Cool ambassadeur site

I happened upon this web site while doing a google search for information on a specific model of ambassadeur. It includes information on maintenance, models, etc. Good site for owners of ambassadeur reels.
ambassadeurs 01

I didn't think that this violates the non-competition clause of the AUP since it doesn't sell anything but rather just provides good information.

Learn something new every day: for years, I've been putting the drag adjustment spring washers in wrong. Thanks for the info!

Ive only owned one ambassadeur reel. I treated it reel good but i had had it for a year and the pall gear was broken. Same thing with the rest of my buddies who have purchased them. Whats the deal?

trunwfisherman
I would say that as with any product these days most manufacturers have a line up of goods they sell from high end to low end.
I am not saying that you bought the low end model. But often people will buy a brand because it has a good reputation and expect that the lowest end version will perform the same as one that costs more. Can you say Corsair vs. Calcutta?
Myself I find that the high end versions of reels often have as many mechanical problems as the lower end but for different reasons. Usually the tolerances on the higher end products are tighter meaning having it dragged through the sand will result in the reel jamming up. They have more bearings to make them smoother and they usually require more maintenance to keep them running smoothly.
Any manufacturer can produce lemons. I was seriously disappointed with my Abu Garcia Eon. I just can't get it to cast well.
As with most product selections I look for the workhorse of the product line. It usually comes in price right under the high end model. I have very few problems with my ambassadeurs. But then again look at how seldomly I fish these days. What with two very young kids and full time work going fishing has become a once every couple of months proposition. I don't use my gear enough to have it fail me!
What model did you say you have trunwfisherman? Also how are you using it? Casting, trolling, etc.

Dang, now I've got to go find me some of those smoothie drag washers. I have about nine of these reels, this is going to take some effort.

Check out the Southwestern reel parts site in the links. They have schematics and parts for every reel.
